After having bad luck with a widely advertised travel organizer two years ago, I decided to try a Travelon this time. It was a good choice. Plusses: (a) it's lightweight; (b) the inside side pocket has a mesh front so that you can see what's in the pocket without fumbling around; (c) I loved the lock feature of the main zipper compartment; (d) a couple of smudges (melted chocolate?) came off with just a washcloth and water; (e) it was just the right length for the cross-over strap; I could easily get access to the zippered compartment; (f) it easily held a bottle of water along with the usual purse items; (g) the security features gave me peace of mind in an area where pickpockets were known to hang out. If I had to do it over again, I would probably purchase the larger size, though the smaller was not "too" small. Though one reviewer had some bad luck with the purse, I had no problems at all with mine and would definitely recommend it to a fellow traveler.Bag fell apart - Customer service a disaster By devog0718
I will never purchase another Travelon item again. I hope you don't either. I STRONLGY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BAG OR THE COMPANY IN GENERAL.
This is actually a replacement from the first bag I bought which didn't last the full 2 weeks of my trip in April. They replaced it and I took it the new one on a second trip in June. I had not even taken off from my home airport when I noticeded the SAME defect as the first bag - the wires in the handle poke out which when you accidentally touch them is quite painful. I had no choice at that point so I went on with my trip trying to make the best of it. Not 2 days into the trip the zipper started to tear. By about day 5 about half the zipper had come un-sewn from the purse. Not too secure. I finally had to pack it and buy a new one to finish the trip.
I just returned and called customer service to get a refund as I feel that I have given it a fair chance with 2 different bags. After swearing (not at me - but how professional is that?) I was told that they would not refund me money only replace the bag. When I told her I did not find that acceptable and constantly interrupting me, I asked her to let me finish my sentence and then she hung up on me.Very Reliable Travel Bag, Would Buy it Again! I am currently in Quito, Ecuador but I have owned this bag for about 3 years now. I have traveled to Argentina, Bolivia, and Ecuador with it. Today, someone tried to slash it. Thankfully, this was the first experience I've had in 3 years of travel, but I can't tell you how happy I was to be carrying a bag with metal mesh inside. If not, they surely would have cut through it and gotten the contents of my bag. This happened on a crowded bus while I was wearing it. The slash went through the outer layers but did not penetrate the inner lining with metal mesh. For many years, I wondered if I was just being paranoid, carrying this reinforced purse around. But today, I was really grateful to have this trusty travel companion with me.
Moreover, the bag is the perfect size for me for daily use. You can fit a lot inside without the purse being so large as to draw attention. I even used to carry a small 10" netbook inside of it. The strap is adjustable and the top zipper locks. And though I read several reviews on here to the contrary, I have to say that over three years of travel (through a lot of wear and tear) this bag has been very durable. With the exception of the slash, it's still in very good condition.
I cannot recommend this bag enough! I would definitely purchase another... and *may* purchase another soon to replace the slashed one!
