Great bag so far! Cheapest bag to fit my 17.3" laptop, but very nice too! By M. Adams
So my work got me a 17.3" laptop, the Dell M6600 to be exact. Beast of a laptop. In fact, not even really a laptop, more like a portable computer. I figured I could fit it in my old Swissgear / Wenger Patriot bag, since it advertised it held up to a 17" laptop, unfortunately it didn't fit, so I looked into other options.
My job has me flying just about every week out of the year and hte computer always goes with me not only on the planes but just about everywhere else throughout the week, so I tend to know what I like in a computer bag and what I don't.
I have found this to be a very nice computer bag so far. It holds more stuff than my old Swissgear and it really seems like the Case Logic folks put more thought into designing this computer bag, from the security friendly sleeve (by the way for those that travel a lot, the sleeve takes up an entire tray when going through security, but not having to remove the computer by itself helps a lot!) to the layout of the interior to the way the pockets are protected for things like cell phones and external hard drives and jump drives, etc. The overnighter portion is probably not good for much clothes (at least not mine but I'm 6' 8" so my clothes are admittadly a bit bigger than most) and seems on par with the amount of space offered in the overnighter portion of the swissgear bag, perhaps a bit deeper as I feel like I've been cramming more stuff in there than I'm used to (not necessarily clothes, but things like my Ipod/Bose headphones, my inflatable back pillow, the massive power cord thing for my laptop, etc. etc.).
The telescoping handle feels sturdy and just fine for my 6' 8" self to pull behind me without kicking it constantly.
The handle is actually two handles, one on each side. The handles feel durable and like they will last a long time, which was unfortunately a point of weakness for my old swissgear bag.
The bag, even stuffed to the brim still fits fine under the seat in front of me for most flights, with the added benefit that when I recently got on one of the little 30-seater embraears (tiny planes with no room under your seat and no room in the overhead bins), I was actually able to take the computer sleeve out, slide that under my seat, and the rest fit in the overhead bin, which my old swissgear didn't! So kudos on that, I didn't have to hand my bag over to the luggage gorillas underneath the plane.
The portion on the back that allows you to fit it over the handles of my roller suitcase fits just right and seems even better designed than the swissgear yet again.
My only complaints, and they are minor... there is a little strap thing to attach your keys to, but the clip is barely big enough to attach to a keychain. Since my keys are normally on a carabiner, it would be nice if that were a little bigger, but very minor in the grand scheme of things. Also, I'm a penaholic and like to carry at least a dozen pens with me. I've found there is only two pen slots designed for pens in the bag... there is the other interior smaller bag which can fit lots of pens but its not really designed for it. On the plus side that was motivation for me to clean out my collection of stolen pens a bit and perhaps find a new home for them. You only need one or two pens anyways, right?Great Roller Bag By Michelle M. Thompson
I have a monster of a laptop and can no longer use a backpack or a shoulder bag. I was hesitant to order this Case Logic bag because they typically have a reputation for lower quality items. I was surprised when I opened the box because the bag is actually well made. I love the fact that I can reach down and pull my laptop out of there and lay it on the x-ray belt without any effort. The fabric is also the kind that washes really easy. On a recent trip I got the back dirty and it just brushed off. It is a little bulky, but I had it filled to capacity when I used it.Very versatile bag for overnight trips By handsomeman 57
I bought this bag for carrying a larger laptop and for doing a lot of 1-2 night trips so only a small amount of clothes are required. Thus I can reduce to one bag and not have to check bags. Plus its small enough so that I never see HAVING to check it, but big enough to carry what I need for a short trip. This will not work for more than 2 day trip or even if you have to bring extra shoes, unless your feet are very small.
I can also say the pictures are wrong, this seems to happen a lot on amazon lately. The movie is accurate and the way to store the computer is very clever, in a little TSA approved sleeve, and it slides in to the middle portion with just a clip rather than a zipper. this is perfect for the airport check in. i think in the picture it shows the laptop going into the clothing section?
The handle is nice seems to work well, though that's the first thing that goes on every rolling bag i have ever owned. So this seems to have the right combination of everything I need, it more of a very nice computer bag with a spot for clothes vs. others I have seen which are carry-ons with an inadequate spot for computer and office accessories. It seems well made but haven't had it long enough to test out the long term durability. i can say it would work well as an every day office commuter AND over night bag, though i do not commute, but its not overly big for that. there is no shoulder strap, nice soft leather handles though.
