Great except for mfg flaws By Zanne
I had one of these duffels for over 10 years and loved it--sturdy, versatile, big enough without being too big. My husband started using it instead of his own gym bag due to its superior shape and durability. So, to get my duffel back, I bought him one (and was relieved that they still make them).
However, I don't know if they have switched mfg plants or materials, or if it just so happens that the particular bag I received is defective, but it is already not as sturdy as the bag I got 10 years ago. The mesh pocket at the front started coming unstitched within a week of use. Rather than pay for shipping to return and get a replacement item, I brought it to a seamstress to resew ($5). It is fixed and so far, so good, but I have to say that I was really disappointed about the apparent decline in quality. Still seems to be a great bag otherwise, but my overall confidence in the product is shaken. Verdict: 3 stars instead of 5.Great for camping! By Swann
Don't you just hate lugging an armful of camping supplies from the house to the car, from the car to the camp site, from the camp site back to the car, and from the car back to the house? I sure did!
But thanks to my colossal outdoor bag, I can combine about 4-5 trips into one! I packed in two air mattresses (deflated, obviously), a tarp, a lantern, a blanket, sheets, a small tent, a fan, and several other odds and ends. The shoulder strap helps when your bag is heavy, but it does dig into the shoulder a bit. The handle on the ends helps with the loading and unloading in the car part. Additionally, you can store the bag vertically and easily grab the bag with the handle on the side.
So far, no breaks, tears, or anything else that would knock off a star or two.
