The Helly Hansen Messenger Bag is the best waterproof bag I have used for hauling books, computers, and even, photographic equipment. It easily stores a lot of stuff inside it, without losing its slim profile. There are several built-in inserts that can be zippered or Velcro-shut easily for added security. One of these is a laptop sleeve that can easily accommodate laptops of screen sizes up to 15 inches in length over which an internal flap can be closed for additional waterproof security; I've used this sleeve to haul my "antique" Contax G2 autofocus 35mm rangefinder camera and several lenses, and it has performed admirably as an impromptu photographic equipment bag. (It will be suitable too for users of compact digital cameras up to and including the new Leica M digital rangefinder camera and a couple of lenses.) Made of some kind of very resistant nylon - or similar plastic - fabric, this messenger bag also has individual slots for pens and pencils and a small pocket for vials of various kinds, including medical pills. The outermost flap is easily secured via a pair of snap-on/snap-off buckles - one each at both ends - and a large Velcro strip in the middle, giving the ultimate in waterproof security. If you are searching for a multiple purpose messenger bag, then I can't think of a better choice than this one from Helly Hansen.
