Great item to have on hand if you travel a lot. It takes the guessing out of the picture and helps save time during check in. Airlines are so anal about luggage weight these days (if only they were that anal about customer service...) that this item can save you a lot of headaches. Easy to use and quick to calculate weight. This is our first luggage scale so I can't compare it to another, similar product. When it works as advertised, it gives accurate readings that compare within a tenth of a pound to the readings of the luggage scale at the check-in counter at the airport. My only complaint is that half of the time the scale beeps and locks in the "weight" as one is just starting to pick up the bag and long before it has an accurate reading. Yes, I tried to lift it slowly and smoothly so that there was no jerking motion. I kept doing it over and over until it gave me a readout that appeared to be timely and accurate. As I said above, the reading was accurate but it took several tries to get something useful.
