As you would expect from STM, the main technology compartment of the Impulse features a densely-padded sleeve for laptops up to 15-Inch in size plus a non-scratch, soft-lined sleeve for your tablet. The generous main compartment has a sleeve for files and a separate, front organization pocket provides easy access to keys, pens, wallet and other essentials. Another lower pocket conveniently stows charging bricks or cables, while two side utility pockets can accommodate a water bottle or umbrella. A thoughtful stretch panel on the back will slide over a roller bag handle to ease your load on the way through the airport. I made an aesthetic decision to dump my old messenger bag (the "computer purse") in favor of a backpack.
Functionally, I think it's a great backpack for carrying my laptop and charger and related accessories. There are layers of pockets, and you can find a place to organize numerous items. This bag is fairly thin and purposely lightweight, you definitely would not want to load it down with thick college textbooks, or use the backpack as makeshift luggage for clothing. It's pretty much designed for your laptop or tablet.
I can't comment on long-term durability, since I've only owned it for a couple of months. The construction and materials seem solid. Again, this bag wasn't meant to be loaded down with books but rather thin electronic devices, so there shouldn't be any incredibly stress on the backpack that would cause it to fall apart prematurely.
I rated it 4 stars because I feel that the price is too high for what you get. There's nothing outstanding about this bag that truly justifies its cost. If I were to sell this backpack secondhand, it would probably be a hard sell to ask for more than a quarter of the original cost, even if it were mint. Still, I would recommend it, if it fits within your budget.
