Customer Reviews:

Love this bag. By ALF
I bought this cross-body anti-theft bag for our trip to France a few months ago. This is the only place I could find it in black. My husband thought I wouldn't like it because it isn't leather, but he was wrong. I love it. There are loads of compartments inside that keep you organized and makes it easy to find everything quickly. There is a little squeeze flashlight attached near the top on the inside which has come in handy. I felt like my possessions were protected from pick pockets with the two latching compartments, the cross-body design, and slash/cut proof material. There is also a strap latch so that you can secure the bag to your chair while in a restaurant. The cross-body style keeps your hands free for shopping too. Sure leather would look more stylish but when we travel, we do a lot of walking and it never fails that we get rained on. I didn't need to worry about ruining this purse, it is water repellant, and it can be wiped with a damp cloth if you need to clean something off of it. There is another flat zippered compartment on the side that rests next to your body that does not latch. I used this one for maps and such. I can actually fit quite a lot in it, even though I tried not to because I didn't want to be weighted down. I carried my 7" tablet, sunglasses & case, ID, credit card, tissue, hand sanitizer, map, money, wet wipes, itinerary printouts, pen, feminine products, lipstick,& lip balm. I think the bag is the perfect size. I'm small frame and 5'3", and it didn't look too big on me. I just adjusted the shoulder strap for a perfect fit.

The only negatives I can think of are, it is slightly narrower at the top which makes it harder to see into if your hand is in it, it is more casual looking than dressy, and you need to latch down the zippered compartments even when you are not concerned with pick-pockets otherwise the latches rattle. None of these negatives are a big deal for me, as I continued to use this bag even after returning from our trip. I love that everything has its place in it and I can go right for it when I need something.

Loving It By Anita F. Napier
So far I love it. It appears to be of good workmanship and it holds all of my necessary items. If you are a stuffer, you will not be happy with this bag. It will not hold a bottle of water comfortably but all of your IDs, passports, tissues, keys, lipstick, mirror, credit cards, and my Kindle--the essentials, it will hold comfortably. I like the locking zippers. This makes it a little more difficult to pick things out of the bag. Unless someone is carrying bolt cutters, it is unlikely that they will be able to grab this bag. One of the outside zippers do not lock. This might be a part of the product design. The pocket is large enough to hold tickets and itineraries. So far so good.

Attachment of strap ruins security By Mrs. Polly
I would have loved to love this bag: it was just the right size for my trip to Europe, great organization, nice to look at, light. I did use it, and was not robbed.

BUT. That carabiner they depict as tucked halfway inside, slides ALL the way out into view when the bag is picked up, and so does the loop that attaches it to the purse -- a wholly unreinforced, entirely flimsy fabric loop! What good is all the steel cable in the world in the strap when it's so insecure at one end? I wasn't even sure the loop would hold under everyday use, much less resisting a cutpurse!

I did my best to strengthen the bag; I tacked the carabiner inside its "pocket" by using a sturdy and handsome pin (my shoe repair guy wanted thirty bucks -- no thanks!), but there are other issues as well: the lining is indeed thin and loose, and catches in the zipper. The swell flashlight/keychain snap tore after three weeks. I'd attached a heavy keychain, so that was halfway my fault, but it was the motion of pulling the keychain to unsnap it, rather than the weight, that did the damage.

Do ALL the Travelon bags have the same issue with the carabiner loop? The pictures seem somehow rather deceptively angled to disguise that particular fault. It's a real shame.

Come on, Travelon!
