Shouldn't have waited By Tommy Boy
I researched this bag for at least a year, gathering the courage to afford the once sizable price, and comparing it to the Maxpedition Sling Bag. If I could've handled the product sooner, I would've bought it a year ago.
Of the Maxpedition, it seems to be a great bag for general purpose use, and technically is set-up to holster your weapon. But that would require an additional Universal Holster and would mean reaching for your weapon in the small of your back, through a zipper. And to be honest, I was nervous the waist strap wouldn't be long enough.
The 5.11 is SO customizable, especially after you pick up some MOLLE pouches. My favorite part is how accessible and easy it is to access my full size Glock .40, with weapon light, in the sling. For added measure, I attached my badge to the flap, so that deploys as I retrieve my gun.
It is VERY comfortable and fits very nicely. The strap attaching midway on the sling is very nice, especially for the aforementioned waistline.
Only thing I've done with it is to ScotchGuard the top and sides to repel rain. I would absolutely recommend this to any gun-toting SOB.Great for concealing around town or out with kids. By James & Shelby
I bought this bag because I like to carry concealed but I find it difficult to during the summer. This bag is the perfect answer to my problem (if you're a right handed shooter). The location of the handgun pouch is perfect placement for quick access. When I carry a Baretta PX4 Storm in front pouch and I can easily fit a spare magazine in the opposite cavity as the gun.
Pro's
Deceptively roomy.
Big but doesn't look too big when wearing, passes off as a daddy bag or diaper sling
fits any full size pistol I have (actually prefer to carry my px4 compact to reduce front weight.
the front weight of sling when carrying helps balance out weight on back.
The construction is rugged and durable
The interior main compartment has molle throughout but is rugged and stiff so your attachments don't SAG!
The bladder compartment is very roomy. I have 3L bladder and have room for armor plate.
The strap is padded, wide and comfortable unlike the straps in civilian sling bags.
The quick draw tab does indeed allow unimpeded quick drawing of your weapon
cons
SUCKS as a fanny-pack (expect sack tapping when running) great attached to an actual belt and worn on your hip but not as great as on sling
I really hope to see the chest carry chest pouch available on other platforms such as a 72hour bag. for instance, 72 hour bags have chest straps. imagine a multi use pouch slid over the chest strap: this would be epic.Gets full quickly By T. Merklin Jr.
The best: Comfortable to carry, convenient off body carry in the chest area, stability strap.
The ok: easy to access rear compartment
The not-so-good: The rear compartment shape and volume leads to quickly full packs that become less easy to access and stick way out. A 15" laptop barely fits. Trying to put a jacket in along with it makes it feel like a giant turtle shell on your back.
I use it for summertime carry as a "daddy diaper bag". Easy to stash a few baby items, and off-body carry if the shorts and t-shirt aren't enough for concealed carry.
