While I am very happy with this laptop case's asthetics, I wish it opened wider so that the space inside could be fully utilized. I also wish that the handle opening was separate from an opening into the main case. A few times when it rained my papers got wet because there is no way to close the opening and use the handle at the same time.

I purchased this bag after a co-worker got a similar bag. I love the color and the bag is easy to carry or roll through the airport. Quite wheels. It is smaller than my original bag but that is okay because then it isn't as heavy to pull out of my car. Very well made and would suggest it for any busy traveller. I have a large laptop - Dell E6430 and it fits nicely in the bag.

My husband hated that I carried such a heavy bag around. I bring my work home each day because I have to work at the office a bit, then I head to my home office and finish up. I am trying to dress the part of my business so my tattered black shoulder bag was frustrating him.

This bag is very professional-looking. It is leather and it has been good to me for over a week. I'm waiting on the other shoe to fall. I am wondering how long this bag will hold up for me.

The inside is quite small. There is room for my laptop, three thin notebooks, my check book, my mouse, and that's it. If I want to take my charger around with me, I have to leave some notebooks home. If I need to bring more paperwork with me, I have to throw it in another bag or leave my notebooks... unless I need my charger, too. (:

It's okay, though. I like it. I just hope it lasts more than a year.

This is one of the most widely copied backpack designs. I am aware of at least 4 different brands that sell versions or minor variations of this model. There is good reason for this: the organizational features and overall design of this bag are great. I myself initially bought a copycat Condor branded backpack from a store after being impressed by the design, without even being aware of the Maxpedition origin of this species. Unfortunately, when I decided to "upgrade" to the Maxpedition Falcon II, it fell short of my expectations. In fact, to my humble taste it seems the student has surpassed the master in this case.

What's good about this bag (and its derivatives):

- stays compact and keeps its rectangular shape
- 3 zippered storage layers with mesh pockets inside + hydration bladder pocket give you plenty of ways to organize gear
- great for carrying flat items like books, laptops and other electronics
- sternum and waist straps are removable (which is a plus on small packs)
- Y-strap on top can be used to strap a jacket or something bulky outside the pack
- MOLLE webbing for attaching all sorts of things to the outside of the pack or on the shoulder straps: bicycle lights, carabiners, storage pouches, etc.
- the three storage layers can be compressed or expanded using straps on the side, so the pack is never shapeless
- seemingly indestructible and water resistant fabric

What's not very good:

- small, not enough volume for extended trips or bulky items
- nothing is accessible from the outside as you are wearing the bag, unlike on hiking backpacks; there are no open-top or side pockets for water bottles, snacks, cameras, or other junk
- the Y-strap, although useful, also gets in the way of opening the zippered compartments (but you can leave it undone)
- a little heavy for its size
- not a hiking pack in my book, more of an urban or travel pack
- when full, the pack bulges out in a way that makes it thicker than it is narrow (hard to imagine it from photos, it looks very unusual) - this is not bad, in fact I like this quirk, but other people also tend to notice the strange shape

Where this pack falls short of the Condor copy:

- fabric is way too stiff and loud when in contact with something else
- zippers are smaller and look flimsier
- shoulder padding is less
- less MOLLE on the shoulder straps = fewer options for attaching useful items there
- stitches on the black model are light in color, showing off the MOLLE and making the bag look less discreet
- loose straps and webbing, longer than needed, especially on the bottom (manageable, but why have to deal with it in the first place?)
- there is a (second) pair of extraneous straps on the side which make it hard to open the main and middle layers (unless you keep buckling and unbuckling them, which gets annoying)
- some really sharp stitches, especially on the carrying handle on top - what were they thinking?
- the hole for the hydration hose on top is closed with a velcro tab which is also very stiff and sharp right next to your hand on the carrying handle
- because it is so stiff, it is harder to cram things into this bag than into one made from softer fabric
- the small zippered pocket on the top outermost layer has a single instead of double zipper (really nitpicking here)
- the Maxpedition logo stands out; I prefer bags without logos like the Condor brand - more discreet and less of a theft invitation

I decided to buy the Condor by first playing with it in a store. I got this Maxpedition Falcon online, but I would not have bought it if I had been able to examine it in person and compare with the Condor version, both in functionality and price. (Confusingly enough, Maxpedition makes a backpack called Condor - I am not referring to it but rather to the one made by a Condor brand.)

The Maxpedition Falcon II is a good pack, but in my opinion not worth the asking price given that you can find something very similar (and arguably improved) for half the price or even less. It just depends on what you have used before and what you expect. If you are not set on this exact model and look, try also 5.11 RUSH, Camelbak Linchpin, or something even fancier and pricier from Mystery Ranch.

Make sure you can examine the specific bag you want in person before you buy because there are wide variations in quality between brands even if they all look like this on photos (by the way, the selling point of Maxpedition is that they are normally very well put together) I know this review will be controversial because this pack has many fans, so I invite you to check out this and other bags in person before getting sucked into the hype found in online reviews.

All this said, I am being overly critical here of a great backpack. Most packs can only dream of being that well designed :)

Most useful backpack I have ever purchased By Airogue
I bought this bag in 2009 from an Army Surplus store for more than they advertise here on Amazon. Worth every penny. I saw it in person before buying so the surprise was not the lack of size, it was the ACTUAL size once you filled her. This bag expands in just the right way to make everything from 72hrs worth of clothing to my 15 inch laptop fit.

The bag fits fully packed under the seat of a larger airliner. The load is comfortable, and with the external compression straps I've stuffed the bag but also held jackets, a tent and a water bottle. The Molle attachments are great because I can add additional compartments, bags, firearm magazine pouches.

I've been on multiple deployments and even more travels around the world with this bag and I do not fear it will ever break. The bottom is a rubberized/coated plastic and cordura. It does not have drainage holes. However, there is a water bladder pocket that is great for putting things you might fear could be pick pocketed or you want to hide, and it does have drain holes in case your bladder ruptures.

I also have carried this bag on my chest with a large duffel bag on my back comfortably. On the chest you can look over it just fine, and move your arms with no restrictions.

The only thing that annoys me at times but it's not a con in any way is the long straps. They provide a lot of extra strap material for "larger" guys. I'm not one of them so it just dangles and I have to tie it off every where. But I'd rather have too much than not enough.

If you are thinking of buying the 2289 COYOTE BROWN MEDIUM TRANSPORT PACK copy of this bag DON'T! This bag is worth the little extra cash. Would you risk your $1000 dollar computer in bag half this cost just to be sure at some point the bag will break and most likely when you least want it too. Don't skimp on this. Buy the Maxpedition if you want to know your bag will survive anything you throw at it.

I'm going to buy a second just for a Bug out bag to leave at home or in the car.

4.5 because of the the price, but may consider five stars. Very functional, well-fitting backpack- seems well-made. I could cross country ski in this bag if I wanted to, because it doesn't restrict my arm movement at all, I am pretty sure Maxpedition guarantees their bags for life, and it feels like it when you hold it.

I was hesitant about a "Foliage Green" bag, but surprisingly happy with the color- my wife thought it was grey. it looks a little greyish, green. The buckles have a definite greenish color, while the webbing is a little more towards beige. I don't know how else to describe the color.

The Samsonite F'lite 30" suitcase has some unique features that set it apart from just about every piece of baggage out there. The question is, do these features matter to you?

First of all, it does not have a zipper closure. This is the feature that matters most to me. I travel overseas a lot. Certain airports (and I won't say which ones) are known for having baggage broken into. A zipper is an invitation for some baggage handler to whip out a blade and cut into your bag, rendering it useless until the airline pays for your replacement. This is a problem I can do without. They aren't going to do that with this one. I can say--knock on wood--that after some 25 years of extensive international travel, I have never had a lockable, non-zippered hardshell bag broken into. Most of my friends haven't been so fortunate. The bag has a TSA-openable combination lock. Can't do anything about that--either it has to have a TSA lock, or you have to leave it unlocked.

Secondly, it is built to Samsonite quality. It's a tough bag with 3 secure closures.

Third, it's large. It's right at the size limit of 62 linear inches. So you can bring a lot of stuff. The only thing you have to worry about is the weight limit (usually 50 lbs). The bag itself is one of the lightest in this size class, weighing only 10 lbs. If that's more volume than you need, you can step down to the 28" F'light bag--slightly less expensive, and one lb less in weight. I prefer the larger size, personally, for those times when my wife wants to pack lots of--you guessed it--shoes.

And, the two roller wheels are large and sturdy. Being recessed into the body of the bag rather than sticking out the bottom as they are on spinner bags, they are less likely to get damaged.

I am finding some criticism of this bag in terms of its lack of maneuverability hard to understand. The fact is--and I know from trying it--that it has two handles for moving it around. The one on the side is pretty obvious, and is mainly useful for pulling it off of the baggage carousel. The collapsible handle on top, when collapsed, can be used to maneuver the bag as well, so you can get it on its bottom rollers without difficulty. At least, without difficulty for a bag this size.

Now, it's not a spinner--meaning that you can roll it in one direction only, and that is along its widest side. So, you can't roll it down airplane aisles or through barriers on the passenger side of airports. So what? This isn't a carry-on due to its size. This is strictly checked baggage, meaning that you will rarely if ever have the need to work it through some narrow space the other side of check-in. It's sometimes a bit of a tight fit in the car park, but this hasn't been a major issue. The bag is about as wide as my shoulders.

In sum-- large, hard to break into, of Samsonite durability with a 10-year warranty to match, and at a reasonable price. If these are the features that you are looking for, I don't think you'll find a better bag.

I needed a piece of "hard" luggage as I was going to fly and need to transport a firearm and I wanted the maximum protection. In case you don't know it, any "zippered" luggage can be broken into with a ballpoint pen and you would never know it.

Well, this luggage arrived and let me tell you it is BIG! Lots of room. My only concern was the locks. My only past experience with hard luggage was when we got married years ago we bought the old style Samsonite luggage. That stuff had a metal frame and keyed locks on the latches. This unit has no metal frame and the latches ( all three of them) are mostly plastic. The middle latch has a combo lock and a TSA approved key slot. IMO it would be better if there was a way to attach a regular TSA padlock.

Well, this baby was loaded (no pun intended) and heavy. I was concerned but after two flights, this unit was tight! No problems.

Hard luggage is hard to find and I'm glad Samsonite is making this model. You can buy it with confidence.

NOT Samsonite's greatest design By M
As a Flight Attendant and an avid supporter of Samsonite hardcases for the last 20 years, this is not their best thought out design. I bought it with considerations for terrain outside of airports (bigger wheels so they don't get gnarled up in the snow and grit) and just assumed the rest was tried and tested by Samsonite. The rest being..ability to get to the airport, by train or bus. This (31") is not designed to be manouvered in any way other than its upright pulling position, it does not fit down the aisles of buses, cannot be manouvered easily through restricting barrier entrances to trains/airports, it's back breaking and not condusive to manual handling due to twisting and lifting at the same time. There is only one handle to do any lifting of the luggage, putting all weight on one side of the body.
So, Samsonite, it could do with another handle on the side for lifting, and the ability to swivel so it can fit through slimmer spaces than its full width, the rest of the case is just as I would expect of Samsonite's high standards, hard wearing, durable, light as can be and no frills.

First, the pictures for this bag are not correct and show a larger model. This item does not have two zippers on top and just has one large main compartment. Don't expect to carry much more than your laptop, charger, mouse, phone, pens and a flat pad. It will not hold a 1" 3 ring binder with the laptop. My 15.6" Toshiba fits snugly and I'm happy with the bag. If you're looking for a sturdy bag to basically just carry your laptop you can't go wrong with Samsonite quality.

This Samsonite computer bag is nice as a computer bag. Material used is pretty good too. It fits in a 15.6" notebook well however if you want to also put in some doc/newspaper it is not going to fit in.

FIRST: Be aware that some of the photographs for this bag are misleading. They depict two main holders. This is for the Samsonite Classic Two, which is thicker and has a secondary main pocket, which allows for cards, pens and whatnot to be stored. There is a separate listing for the item, just type in 'Samsonite Classic' on the search bar and you will find both listings.

NOW: This bag is great. Most laptop bags I see from other name brands cut corners, such as plastic clips, zippers, low quality nylon fabric. This case is high in quality in everything except one aspect, which I will get to. The case is slim- more slim than any laptop case I have seen, and for someone on the go who wants to look sharp, this case definitely plays the part. It's firm, not sloppy, will hold a laptop securely, and a few documents as well (but don't push your limits). I use this as my carry on in addition to a small backpack. The case will hold my laptop and power cord + brick with the slightest bulge. (Note, I have a Sony S Series, which is .91 inches thick, so those with large laptops may have issues)

Now, I have been to many B&M stores to check out their other laptop bags. Many have the following failures:

- Poor quality material. It feels flimsy, cheaply sewn together, and saggy.
- Cut Corners. Important parts, such as hinges and clips, zippers, etc, are made of plastic.
- Too big/bulky. I'm trying to carry a laptop, not my desktop.
- Looks cheap, generic.

I will start with the flaw of this bag- the shoulder strap is relatively cheap. I LOVE the hooks, they are metallic and are sturdy. However the strap is thin (understandably as the whole bag is meant to be streamlined) and the shoulder pad is disappointing.
However,the rest of the laptop case is marvelous. There are two front zippers, which unfortunately do not have any in-line pockets, however I have not had any difficulties with this, as the bag is strictly for my laptop, chargers and what have you (passports, plane tickets, some cash, thin wallet/phone, etc) There is also a wide back-pocket which comes in handy with more personal documents, as it hangs inwards (you'd be a fool to not notice someone unzipping your laptop carrier though) so it's safe from roaming hands.

This laptop case is not for everyone. If you need to store a lot of things, look elsewhere. However if you only have a slim laptop and the charging brick, a travel mouse and other tiny items, this is a great classy looking laptop carrier at a bargain price. You will seriously not find anything that looks better than this at the price point (or even double/triple the value!)

EDIT: 3/14/13: I've now had this bag for about four months, give or take. This is what I carry in it on a daily basis:
- Sony 15.6 S-Series laptop
- Charging brick+Cable
- Kobo mini e-reader
- Phone + Wallet
- Small notebook + Pen
- Pack of gum, small pack of tissues

This is quite a bit of stuff inside the briefcase, however the entire thing stays slim (with a hint of bulging I will admit). I've taken this on about six train rides, and eight airplane flights with no issues. I have gotten a scratch/scuff on one small area of the bag, however it has not grown any worse and appears to be completely superficial, no signs of worsening.
I am super happy with this bag now, for it has completely exceeded my expectations and came at an incredible price. I would have gladly paid 2x or even 3x the price to have this bag. If you have a thin laptop or are into style, seriously, buy it!

I've seen the actural luggage before I buy it online.
It has side reinforcement and obviously stronger than any other luggages with un-hard side, including SAMSONITE and AMERICAN TOURISTER in same cost level, which just use a very thin canvas like material for side board, easily to be pierced out.
And the weight is not so heavy.
I believe SAMSONITE(also other brands) use the "reduce weight" name for cost reduction, as a result of quality down. it's just a trick.

This is a really cool bag. I'd been searching for something like it for awhile, but it seemed like all the bags I found that were made of real leather were $100+. This is a great little bag if you don't carry a ton with you. I took it on vacation a few weeks ago, and it fit everything I needed: wallet, phone, keys, gum, chapstick, e-reader, and a tightly rolled long-sleeved shirt. I also sprayed waterproofing stuff on it, and it didn't change the shade or feel of the leather at all.

One thing to keep in mind is that the leather is very soft, so it will get shiny if it rubs against you. The back of mine is all glossy now because I've worn it so much. But it doesn't bother me.

MLA-116 is a very lightweight bag. I would not trust the bag to protect a laptop from a drop of more than a foot or two. The padding is insufficient. There is nothing to secure the laptop from moving around or in the tablet pocket. With no padding on the top where the zipper is and nothing to secure it, there is no protection from that angle. Using this bag is better than nothing and does provide some storage space, but this would not be my first choice. If you just want something to hold your tablet, then this would do the trick.

Other negatives
-Back pocket has no way to keep anything inside. Items could easily fall out if bag is put down.
-Storage in front pocket is very limited. With the light padding, you could even damage a tablet on the inside with heavy items in the front pocket
-Shoulder strap is attached with plastic fasteners. The fasteners look flimsy, not sufficient to withstand heavy loads and regular use.
-You can get much better quality items for the fifty dollar price point

Positives
-It does have a nice zipper pocket that would fit a cell phone well.
-It is not heavy
-It looks easy to clean

The description here does not offer much info, so let me delve into that:

Both the front, back and sides are padded.

Under the front velcroed flap (the photo with the logo the right) is a zippered pocket. This pocket is 15.5 inches wide by 9 inches deep. Along the back of this pocket are 3 elastic loops for pens and three smaller pockets, one 4.5 inches by 4 inches and two 3.5 inches by 4 inches. These pockets are "flat" so whatever you put in them needs to be thin.

The large middle pocket is 15.5 inches wide and 12 inches tall. The bottom is 2 inches wide. Inside this large pocket is a full length and nearly full depth divider that is flat against the side. Along the other side is a 9 inch wide by 10.5 inch pocket with a lined (fuzzy) front. I guess that fuzzy fabric is called "nylex".

Along the back outside near the handles is a small zippered pocket that is 6 inches wide and 5 inches deep, lined with the fuzzy material (would be good place for a phone or Ipod). Also along the back side is an 8.5 inch tall non closing pocket that runs the whole width of the case.
The straps are attached with plastic clip hooks to nylon webbing loops and the handle is padded.

This is a well made case, although I have some concern about the nylon webbing durability over time. However, I have had other Case Logic bags that lasted for a long time, so I will give the developers the benefit of the doubt. The zippers work smoothly and have nice pulls. I think the front long pocket should have had some sort of closure in the middle, a piece of Velcro or a snap to keep the contents from falling out. The price/value point seems a bit high as well.

A Pretty Utilitarian Laptop Case By Bryan Newman
Trust the description when it says that this is an "understated attaché." It is nice and functional, but perhaps a little too utilitarian. There is a 1/2 inch of padding for the laptop so it remains thin and it is impossible to over stuff. The tablet pocket is a nice addition, probably better for bigger tablets like the iPad, a Kindle Touch gets lost in the pocket.

The construction is ok, but the materials seem a little rigid for my tastes. The strap is workable, but not luxurious. The handle like the other materials is a little rigid and I don't know how much it will improve with age.

Also, the price seems a little high for the bag. It is listing for $50 right now. I expect that to drop appreciably in the near future, but for now it is pretty pricey for what you get.

All this being said, it is not a bad laptop bag. It does serve the purpose that I was hoping for - to lug around my 13.3 macbook. It does that well enough, but it lacks elegance. So, if you are looking for function over form, this might be the bag for you.

This is a nice pack for little ones. My daughter is in preschool, and as I watched her classmates pour out of the school building one day, I became aware of how huge their backpacks were. I spent some time looking for one that would not be so huge, but that would not be tiny either. When I came across this pack, I read some reviews, trying to get an idea for its size, and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did, because the size is just right. It is not too large, yet it is sizeable enough to hold a folder, papers, a snack, and a change of clothes with room to spare. Also the little water bottle holder on the side is cute; of course we had to buy the matching bottle. My daughter is thrilled with the ballerina print as well. I also ordered one for my son, the dinosoar pack, and it's really cute. I do recommend this for pre-K and knidergarten, it really is just what they need.

None of the small backpacks I found at regular stores, like Target, fit a regular school binder. The bigger ones were too big for my 34 3/4 inches little girl. She started pre-school and needed a backpack to carry her lunch bag, extra clothes, and bring home her artwork, homework or notes from the teacher, etc.

Crocodile Creek products are very pleasing to the eye. Colorful simple images, like a flower or a dinosaur have a sweet look, the way kids stuff should look. There's a gentle innocence and as fleeting as that is in life, I love seeing this sort of thing around the house while it lasts. They're not just cute though, they are practical and safe. Crocodile Creek products are PVC and phthalate free, lead safe and meet or exceed US and European safety standards. The only problem I see with Crocodile Creek is trying to figure out what to get amongst so many great choices, I really love this brand.

The backpacks stand out in a sea of Spongebobs and Spidermen. They are bright and colorful (easy to spot your kid), have an organizer pouch inside, padded adjustable straps, easy to use zipper pulls, and a place to put water bottles on the side. My son now has several Crocodile Creek products and loves them all. I recommend having a look at the matching lunch boxes as well.

Don't let the price fool you, this is a very well made backpack! With two zipper compartments and a mesh pocket on the side it's more spacious then I first thought. The material repels water and is strong enough for some rough use. Adjustable shoulder strap allowed me or my boyfriend to comfortable wear it while hiking. Definitely would recommend!

I wanted a cheap sling that I could use for fishing so I was happy when I came across this sling that was cheap and Amazon Prime eligible. I received this sling in 2 days and was pleasantly surprised with it. I have started using it for school as well. I can fit a spiral and a book or a spiral and my Lenovo X220 in it but I don't think all 3. I plan on putting my tackle boxes in it while fishing and possibly by Nikon D5100 in there as well if they both fit. I am happy with my purchase though as it is comfy to wear and has enough room for items.

I was pleasantly surprised when this came in after agonizing about which one to buy. Not getting to touch the quality of the fabric or try it on is always a risk when purchasing something like this online.

First, the quality of the bag is very good. The fabric is thick and is water resistant, not water proof. I can hold up in a light rain. The front strap is wide, not skinny, which helps in keeping it in one place when moving around. There isn't any shoulder padding on the strap. The mesh water holder on the side isn't very large though. I tried putting a Dasani water bottle in it and it was a struggle. I would recommend a thinner water bottle. The mesh is sturdy though.

Second, this is perfect for light use. I needed a bag to carry around my iPad when I am walking or bike riding and it works perfectly. The front pocket can carry small items like keys, phones, chargers, etc. There is an area on the small compartment for your headphones to exit to make listening to music easier. The main compartment is large enough to carry an iPad and a couple of books. There are no extra pockets on the inside.

Overall this is quality for a cheap price. I tried around at Walmart and Target but their sling backpacks all start around $25 and have way more options than what I needed. If you just want something to carry around a few items when biking, going for a walk, a day at the amusement park, or any other outing then this is perfect for you. I don't know if I would recommend it for carrying around a bunch of school books for class.

great bag, stylish. got tons of compliments on the bag. it traveled 20,000 miles in it's first month of existence, on a variety of airlines and held up exceptionally well. holds a lot more clothing/shoes than I would have imagined. Unfortunately, all it took was a one hour flight on EasyJet to destroy the bag. EasyJet has agreed to replace it.

I recently purchased this bag and was very pleased with the quality, styling and price. I did a lot of online research to replace a TUMI bag I had used for years at work. After getting tired of finding the same bland and boring black nylon messenger bag, I stumbled across Knomo in a magazine article. The quality is very good with detailed/contrasting stitching, fine leather exterior, padded orange interior with multiple size compartments for just about everything. The nickel ends to the shoulder straps are nicely finished and look very modern and durable. I am certain this bag will last me for years to come! The Amazon price is also a lot less than other sites I searched. If you are looking for a simple, modern and elegant bag I would definitely recommend the Kobe Messenger Bag by Knomo!

Poor Construction, Fell Apart at Seams, No Help From Knomo By Danflans
I purchased a very similar bag from Knomo and really liked it when I got it, BUT when the seam which holds the shoulder strap on one side split wide open, and I called and sent pictures to Knomo, they were completely unapologetic and unhelpful.

If you can afford to buy a new $300+ bag every 2 years, then this is the bag for you. Other interior pocket seams have also came apart, so this was not just a single bad stitch.

If you expect such a bag to last you for years of good use, you will be sorely disappointed.

I thought the bag was great when I got it a few weeks ago. I used it lightly everyday however a few days ago one of the so-called metal ends just broke in half. I am not joking.
I am very familar with metal and it will stretch or deform however this when looked at closer looks like some type of other material. I don't think plastic.
If it is metal then the end pieces supporting the shoulder strap are extremely brittle showing pour quality and cheaper manufacturing which should not be in a bag that costs anywhere near this amount.

I have uploaded a picture so can see it broken for yourself. A picture is worth a thousand words.

My fiance and I don't have a washer/dryer yet, so I bought this to replace all the hampers/ baskets/ other canvas bags that we used to carry our dirty clothes in to the laundromat. This has the feel of a military issued bag (which my fiance said reminded him of the one he was issued in basic). This is really not a duffel bag as much as it is a NAvy Seabag. You cant tell from the photo but what you get is the openening is on the end that has durable straps to secure. No cheap zippers here. Does the job, perfect for baseball bats, etc. I put my canopies in them.

I've had numerous backpacks over the years, and this one is the best one I've ever owned. Yes, it's large. Yes, there are tons of pockets and organization. The previous reviews have listed them in detail.... what I'd like to emphasize is the extreme comfort! A couple of days ago, I ran abt a quarter of a mile in the rain with this bag, a 13" macbook (b/c there are adjustable straps on the inside of the compartment to make the bag fit the laptop instead of the other way around! Serious SCORE!), a notebook/binder, 2 super heavy college text books and various small items. Not only was I able to run, I was able to do so comfortably! It cinches down easily. The padding on the back ROCKS! The lumbar portion makes it fit easily to the contour of your back, and the suspension straps give when they need to without pulling on your shoulders and neck. The only thing I didn't love is the waist strap, but it tucks away easily behind the lumbar padding; honestly, I don't even remember it's there anymore. This bag has taken a beating over the past year, and it still looks beautiful! I'd like another colour, but I can't really justify the expense b/c this one is going to last a loooooooong time.

I really wanted to like this bag. I got the Charcoal/Chipotle/Black one and it's pretty nice. It has lots of pockets, which could border on too many for some users. I sometimes forget which of the pockets hold my stuff. The zippers are nice, and just big enough to grasp and pull easily.

Besides all the compartments, there are lots of smaller pockets. The very first compartment can hold all your knickknacks. It has pen/pencil holders, zippered pockets, non-zippered pockets, "velcroed" pockets...you get the idea.

The second compartment has a mini pocket up top designed for an mp3 player. Above that pocket is even a port to push a headphone jack so you can listen to your tunes as you walk.

There is a tiny soft-lined pocket at the very top that I normally use to store things like my camera, phone and mp3 player i.e. things I don't want scratched. That's one of the things I like most about the bag.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th compartments are great for books with lots of room. However the fourth compartment held a surprise laptop pocket complete with a strap and buckle. I didn't have a laptop at the time I bought this, but now that I own one, I'm really happy it's there.

The straps are nice and wide also, making it easier to carry around on your back.

The ONLY thing I do not like about this backpack is that "Vapel mesh" that they added to the back. That thing has caused trauma to my polos and t-shirts you would not believe. Every polo and T-shirt I wear with this has caused the fabric to twill BADLY. I've never had clothes damaged by a backpack like this has. And for this reason, and this reason alone, I wish I never bought this bag. No one else has mentioned this problem, so it may well be only me.

I purchased this backpack for extensive general everyday and weekend use (aka my "man purse"). I carry my gym clothes and other miscellaneous gear to and from work every day - which involves daily repetitive usage of the zippers and pockets. I also use it for travelling and weekend trips, sometimes with large (heavy) loads - and can be VERY tough on a backpack in general. In the past I owned a North Face (Recon) pack - which at almost 6 years old was dated in design though not falling apart.

This pack seems on par with the quality of the North Face pack, as far as materials go - and at less than half the price. The design is PERFECT for travelling (with three *separate* large compartments, as well as lots of cool little stash spots). Perfect, nay -IDEAL- for organization on a 3-day+ trip. The feel of the pack is solid, and very well made. The zippers, a crucial fail point on cheap packs, are thick-toothed and burly! The laptop pouch is great, and easy to access in line at aiport security via it's own special zipper right above the straps. It is also WELL padded, including the bottom (where it rightly has the thickest padding) The carrying handle on top is a dream - padded and comfortable. I often carry my pack using that handle, so it's nice to see it becoming standard on many packs these days.

I initially wondered why the water bottle pouches (2) did not have cinch straps at the top like North Face does - but in actual usage I actually prefer them like this. I tend to use the side pockets for quick-access storage, and these flush-mount pouches are superior to the loose, floppy North Face design. They are deep as well, so they hold tall bottles WAY better, as well as a bunch of random stuff when I want to quickly dump things somewhere when on the go.

The very top small storage pouch is awesome and PERFECTLY designed - when I go to lunch I can dip right in for my wallet and keys without having to dig around or even move the bag at all - brilliant. Perfect for "ready access" items. The front "organizer" pouch has a killer little Velcro "phone pocket" in it (this is better for storing smallish items like lip balm, coins and extra batteries rather than a phone) - the rest of the organizer area is pretty "meh" like most organizers in backpacks. Things tend to just get thrown into that front pocket. I find the side (water bottle) pouches better to drop a phone into (it's easier to hear it ring too).

The shoulder straps are the best I have ever used on a daypack. The High Sierra "integrated suspension system" WORKS (I was very doubtful). This thing feels like a dream on the back. Also, a really cool feature is that the bottom straps have stopper clips on them to prevent that annoying "run through" where a strap comes out of the fastener and hangs free. How is this the first pack I have ever seen this on?? These stopper clips also have super handy "pullin' holes" where you can tighten them with one finger, another incredibly innovative design that took me by surprise.

High Sierra has hit a home run with this pack as far as I am concerned, and obviously I am very anal about my backpack performance and specs (it literally goes EVERYWHERE I go, in all conditions, with all types of loads). I appreciated the very detailed reviews of various packs when I started looking for a new one, so I hope others of like mind find this of interest!

Side note: Several reviewers expressed concern over "that extra fabric covering the two main zippers". These are rain flaps which help prevent water intrusion through the zipper. I guess only `backpack idiot savants' like me know that. Yes they can get in the way sometimes, but you'll be very glad it's there during a downpour - they make a big difference.

I paid 39.00 (with free Prime shipping 2-day delivery - black/black model) - and boy does this seem like one hell of a deal!

UPDATE: I have discovered that the laptop pouch also doubles as an amazing beer cooler. I can easily fit 3 bottles (more possibly) in there, along with my gel icepack. It's essentially *AS GOOD* as any softsided cooler, and found it kept my drinks cold and safe all night. Sweet!!

Also, I have to re-state this, the little "stash pouch" (on top) for ready-access stuff like keys and wallet, is perhaps the best single innovation I have ever seen on a pack. NO MORE digging around in other pockets for my keys & such! At concerts, it has proven to be a godsend when I am slightly inebriated. Not to mention at work when I need to grab my keys and run, I don't even need to move my pack.

***UPDATE - TEN MONTHS LATER***
The pack still looks brand new! It has been to two multi-day camping music festivals, a week in New Orleans on foot, several day hikes, 7 concerts, MANY weekend trips, MANY beach trips, and DAILY use back and forth to my office (where it is often used to courier my Amazon purchases home). If there is a known punishment that humans can inflict upon a helpless backpack, verily - I have delivered it unto this High Sierra!

Is the fabric made of a futuristic, impenetrable teflon-adamantium fibre? Are the zippers forged from molten eagle talons? Was the design itself created by a 13-year-old boy with Asperger's living in the Ukraine and enhanced with gamma rays? I DON'T KNOW!!

But it is one hell of a pack!

First, the leather of the bag is very nice. It's soft and supple.. like one would get in an expensive leather jacket.

And it appears to be nicely made. The stitching is all accurate and solid.

The compartments are laid out nicely and make sense. The smaller internal pockets and key attachment are also good.

The carry-strap is good quality with a choice of materials to have on your shoulder.

I have a 17.3 inch monitor on my laptop, and it fits - just barely.

Time will tell how this wears with transit and travel. Now that I've purchased one, I notice other people's similar bags. Some of them look pretty bad - all scratched and marred up. The soft leather is really nice, but not good for standing up to travel wear and tear. Now that I've purchased this really nice bag... I'm not sure I would again. Maybe cordura is more appropriate for the product in general... But I digress...

Overall, a well-made and well designed laptop bag with leather that will not disappoint.

This bag is sturdy and able to carry a great deal of office things. I wish there was a bit more padding for the laptop, but I can live with this minor issue, It has several compartments and places to house different sized articles needed for every day office work. It is a great bag and it looks professional so that taking it to meetings is not a concern.

I bought this for my 7th grader because we desperately needed something that could hold up to lots of books and the wear. Well this backpack is really great. it has the section for the laptop, my son uses it for his binders. The backpack itself is high quality and would have no problems standing up to at least two school years! The only problem I have is I wish it could hold one more book or binder in it. My son has to lug around 6 binders everyday and he is a little small for his age. So far no complaints of any back pain though. The pockets are great for small things. Everything has a place and it does keep things very organized when they need to know where something is.

I bought this for my Kindergartener after his little kid cutesy one's zipper broke after less than a week of use. This is a quality, adult sized backpack, and it's huge on him, but that's not the backpack's fault, it's mine for ordering an adult sized one for a small kid. My child still loves it (he picked it out himself), and doesn't care if it is over large. The one thing that I wish it had that it doesn't is one of those clips that buckle the straps across the chest, so keeps the straps from slipping off the shoulders. That would be a great feature to assist in its being too large. Otherwise, it is a real quality backpack, and I can easily recommend.

I love this backpack. There are lots of pockets for bits and bobs. The shoulder straps are very comfortable and easily adjustable, even with the backpack on. Just pull the straps that hang down to pull the backpack up. This is probably my favorite feature. One small problem is the opening for the main pocket isn't as large as I need so it's hard to put some of my larger textbooks in and pull them back out. Overall though, I love this backpack.

Wow! Aside from the usual quality to be expected from Maxpedition, this thing is much more than just a travel wallet. First, there is an additional strap that goes around your chest. This means extra security and also the wallet won't swing out when you're bent over your luggage, or a small child, or tying your shoe. Having your wallet stay inside your jacket means additional security as well.

Second, this thing has more pockets than a pool table factory. The slot in the back also holds a 3"x5" notepad.

This is what problem analysis and solution engineering are all about. Is there a chance we can turn Maxpedition loose on the government?

I wanted this when I saw a video review of it on youtube a while back. However, never realized how big this wallet was until I got it! Never the less it can store my subway map, money, keys, cards, personal hygiene stuff (lip balm, mini hair brush, tampon, etc.), mini memo pad, pen, phone and mp3 player securely in it's many, many pockets. Not the most fashionable accessory for a city girl, in fact, I was told that I look like a tourist. Whatever... The end result is that I only need one wallet and given that I wear this under my coat, makes this a very secure wallet. So it's all good. :) Thumbs up to the guys at Maxpedition!0 of 0

The handle button stopped working so I can't release it. I need to poke the locking pin in and then fight with the handle to lower it. Seems like its impossible to fix. Very disappointing for such an expensive product. I never treated it roughly.

I love this bag, it's the second one I bought. I take cabs a lot for work and it fits in the back seat, rather than having to put it in the trunk. It's durable and the wheels are quiet, doesn't matter if you get caught in the rain, it dries quickly.

Great Quality Professional briefcase By Esteban
This bag is very very nice. When the box arrived The bag itself was in a series of 3 boxes and a plastic bag. However, I could still smell the leather before opening the first box. The first thing that struck me about the bag is how nice the leather is. The leather seems thick and rugged but still soft to the touch. The build quality of the bag is also great. The stitching is solid and all the nickel hardware looks like it is build for years of use and abuse. The inside of the bag is lined and soft. It will provide plenty of padding for my Ipad and laptop. I have a 13 in mac book air but the provided literature explains that the bag will fit up to a 15.6 inch laptop. So it was no surprise that my laptop fits even with a cover or sleeve over it. I was surprised to find that my ipad fit in the tablet slot even with a thick protective cover on it. It was a snug fit but I was pleased that I didn't have to search for a new cover for my ipad. With everything in the bag I still have plenty of room for other books and papers. However if you are a student (especially a law student like myself) this bag may not be large enough to carry multiple large heavy books. I plan on using this to carry a laptop and a few items for internships and class days with less reading. On that note the bag looks very professional yet still young and modern. It is perfect for young professional who is not trying to carry a backpack to a professional office or courthouse. At less than $100 it is a steal for a bag of this quality with these accessories. The bag also has a slot zipper pocket on the back for extra storage, as well as a pass through that I believe is meant to allow you to place it over the handle of a roller bag for easy travel. The only cons I can think of are that there is no perfect place to put the chargers for your tablet and laptop. Also the front slot has pen slots that are a little too small for larger pens and hi lighters. I have also found that the latches on the front of the bag although not particularly difficult do not provide quick access to the bags contents. (By the way the latches are not the buckles as shown on the picture, those are fake, the latches are behind the leather straps and are a standard push button latch.) When all is said and done I am extremely happy with the bag and would suggest it to anyone asking.

It Stinks By 2*many*hobbies
Sadly the case really did stink. It had a strong chemical smell that never went away, even after being left open to air out for two weeks. The case looked very nice. I was impressed with the sturdy construction of the case. Unfortunately the case would not close securely if a thick item was placed inside due to the non-adjustable buckles on the closure flap. The case came with a warning label indicating that it contained cancer causing chemicals.

In summary: good looks, sturdy construction, mediocre functionality, horrible smell, and an increased risk of cancer.

Thanks to Amazon for making the return of this item smooth and easy.

I used this for my wedding dress (Alfred Angelo #207), my husband's suit and my sister's matron of honor dress. My dress was slightly bulky (I included the designer and number so you can have a visual refrence if you want to google it), but it did fit in the bag without an issue. You are supposed to be able to fit up to 6 garments but I'm not so sure I would have been able to fit a total of 6 with my dress in the bag, unless the remaining garments did not have a lot of excess fabric. The lock where the hangers are kept in place was difficult for me to close with only 3 hangers, so I can not imagine 3 more. It doesn't mean it can't happen, just in my case it didn't matter. Once the garments are in the bag, it has 3 rollers attached to different places inside of the bag so you can fold it up and your garments will not become wrinkled. This absolutely was the case. We flew JetBlue for my Vegas Wedding and when I arrived at the hotel, nothing in the bag was wrinkled at all (and this was a 5 hour flight). I didn't have to steam any of the garments. Additionally, I had no issue with size requirements and I was able to place in the overhead bin (folded up) without a Ben Stiller Meet the Parents "you have to check your bag" moment. The only thing was that you are supposed to be able to fit accessories in the extra zippered pockets in the bag, but there was no way that was going to happen (in my case) because with all the garments and the bag folded up, it was slightly bulky. I was just able to use the straps on the outside to lock it into place. I probably could have pressed down on the bag to remove excess space caused by air pockets, but I wasn't going push down on my gown and possibly ruin it. However, you just might be able to fit acessories depending on how many garments you are placing and how bulky they are. Overall I was pleased with the bag because I didn't have any problems for what I needed it for and it was very durable. I will obviously get future use out of it, so all in all I believe it was a good investment. Plus if you are not using it for anything wedding related, I'm sure you could do everything the manufacturer specifies.

We used this bag to take our wedding attire to a destination wedding. Not only was I able to fit 2 wedding gowns in it, we also put the grooms dress clothes and approx 10 summer dresses in it. I was amazed how well everything fit! If I was to do it again, I would not pack so much in it because it did get heavy to carry around the airport, but it worked perfectly for what we needed. I was so happy that I didn't have to worry about my dress, especially because there were 3 other brides on our flight and the closet they put it in was not very big, it was low so things would touch the floor, and it was right by the entrance to the plane. I was also worried that I was not going to get the bag in time because of a holiday, however, it was shipped in a timely manner and everything worked out very well. I would definately recommend this product.

I FINALLY found a long wardrobe bag on Amazon after searching stores and other sites. I needed the bag to transport 3 full length dresses to my nephew's wedding. The bag is well made, sturdy, has nice pockets for extras, and a convenient shoulder strap. I'm sure I will have it for years to come. I would recommend this bag if you need something with a longer length. They are hard to find!

Looks sharp, lightweight, wish front pocket was bigger By Dameon White
Overall, this is a very nice piece of luggage and honestly if it wasn't for 2 things that are mentioned after this sentence, it would have gotten a higher rating. First, the front pockets - while being decent sized in nature - aren't large enough to hold a laptop over say a smaller 13" laptop. If you're a business traveler like myself who unfortunately has to carry a Dell Latitude which likely has a 14" screen and is a little bulkier, the pockets on the front are too narrow to fit the laptop and that was my prime reason for wanting this luggage (I was attracted to the combination of hardside and soft design). If you're using something smaller than a 14" inch and it's narrower (like really thin or narrow like a Macbook) then the front pocket would be fine and should make for easy retrieval when going through checkpoint security at the airport.

The second reason for a slightly lower rating is the handle. While very lightweight, it did not extend to the full length without extra effort. It seems that the handle tubing is kind of flimsy and did not rest in the case properly, which resulted in it sort of falling further in the case when it was suppose to be held solid by its housing. As a result, the little ball bearings that make the locking points for the handle would get stuck inside the case, forcing you to wiggle around the handle to get it release to its longest length. If you're shorter (like I am) this normally wouldn't be a problem since you wouldn't need to extend the handle to its longest length, but the main reason you need its longest length for this case is if you plan to attach a small carry on such as a briefcase around the handles. The locking point before its longest length is not long enough to be used for attaching carry-ons. Plus, if you're taller, this locking point might be too low for you. I'm only 5'5" and this locking point is just about perfect in terms of not having to reach and sort of sits right where my hand would be just hanging down without stretching. Therefore, I imagine anyone taller than me would have to reach for this one. If you're taller than 5'6" you'll need to extend the handle to its full length and since this did not extend properly (I might have just gotten a faulty case) I rated it lower for poor performance.

The rest of the case though is solid. Even the included 3-1-1 bag is pretty decent and you can definitely squeeze a bit of luggage in this case. I like the two halves of storage and the top half can fit a suit or more in it securely.

If you don't need to put a laptop larger than 13" in the front pockets and the handle issues I mentioned aren't a problem, this case would be rated a 4/5 by me. If the handle is just a fluke and I got a dud then I'd also rate it a 4/5. I won't know about the defect because I am exchanging it for a different product entirely.

great roll-on suitcase By MMM
good price for a well made suitcase that fits a lot of clothing and is a pleasure to roll through the airport. It is light and small and easily fits into the overhead bins. It has some nice pocket features and expands if you need it. I had originally bought the 28 inch version of this suitcase for my 15 yr old daughter to use on a 3 week youth trip to Europe in which she was in and out of hotels and buses almost daily. It held up very well and still looks like new. So I now own the 20, 24, and 28 inch Crystal City Spinners. Love these suitcases! And I never want to go without the awesome 360 spinner feature. Was surprised how much easier it made travelling!

Well made, compact carry-on that holds lots of stuff. Perfect for international travel but without the anxiety of not having enough capacity to carry all that you need in a carry-on. Awesome job Ricardo!
